Аn Omsk icon-painter, author of architectural church projects. Since 1996 he runs metropolitan icon-painting workshops in the Omsk-Tatar eparchy. In 2002 he was awarded the Sergius Radonezhsky medal of the Merit for the Russian Orthodox Church.
Gennady Adayev was born on October 4, 1967 in Yelets. He graduated from the Orlov art school (1986) and Krasnoyarsk state art institute (1994). In his native town of Yelets, Adayev painted the iconostasis and the Cathedral in the name of the icon of Our Lady of Yelets, the festival and sovereign rows of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin Cathedral (1994 – 1996). After settling in Omsk in 1996, he carried out icon-painting and architectural projects for the Achair Monastery of the Cross, the Church of St. Demetrius of Solun, home church of St. Theodosius of Chernigov, the church of John the Baptist on the water, and the cathedral church of the Dormition ((Svyato-Uspensky). He created the new icons of St. Sylvester the Martyr (1998), Our Lady of Akhtyr-Achair (2001) and an iconography of saint martyrs Michael, John and Nicholas (1998).
Adayev’s major works in Omsk and the Omsk region include the icons of Our Lady of the Sign (the Church of the Sign), Our Lady of Iviron (the chapel of Iviron), the Nativity of Christ (the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, 2001), St. Sylvester the Martyr, the Holy Gates (St. Nicholas Cossack Church, 1998, 2003).
