Sanctuary Doors

Iconography:  Half-doors of Holy Gates

Date: XVI century. Late XVIth century

Iconographic school/art center:  Kholmogory

Origin: come from Kholmogorsky district. In the beginning of the 20th century were deposited in the eparchial archives and then were given to the Northern museum of local history, afterwards were transferred to AOMII

Material: Wood, cut-back central portion, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 144 cm, width 35 cm

The gates with the semi-circular upper part and two perforated holes in the upper part can be traced back to the ancient type with the depiction of the Annunciation above and saints Basil the Great and John the Goldenmouth on the leaves.
