Origin: was removed from the Nikolskaya church in the village of Nyonoks, Archangelskaya region (1762)

Material: Wood, cut-back central portion, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 102,5 cm, width 102,5 cm

Christ trampling the broken gates of hell leads Adam and Eve out of the hell. At the sides of Christ are two groups of the Old Testament tsars and prophets. In the lower part of the composition is depicted the hell with the Satan fettered by the angels. The souls of the righteous people dressed in white are waiting for release, reaching forth their arms to Christ.
