The icon is characteristic of the Moscow iconographic circle with the iconographic theme painted in mid – second half of the 15th century. The Mother of God is depicted almost frontally, with her head slightly turned towards the Child Christ, her look directed towards the viewer. The right hand of the Mother of God is outstretched to Christ seated on her left arm. He is portrayed frontally, his right hand is blessing and his left holds a scroll. Christ’s left leg is slightly raised. The vestments of Christ and of the Mother of God are richly covered with golden and silver assist. The specific feature of the icon is a depiction of a chiton between the edges of an omophorion. Along the collar of the chiton runs a pattern styled as decorative-cryptographic writing. An inscription on the back of the icon reads: «Княгини Анны Микулинской» (Owned by Princess Anna Mikulinskaya). The icon is cased in a silver gilded stamped oklad with a rich wickerwork-like pattern against a floral background, surrounded by a wavy stem on the margins.
