Iconography:  Great Martyr Demetreus of Thessaloniki Killing Tsar Kaloyan

Date: XVI century.

Origin: From the church commemorating the Decapitation of John the Precurser in the village of Kirillovskiye Tanishcha, Belozersky district, Novgorodskaya region (now small town Stariy Pogost near the village of Oseki, Kaduysky district of the Vologodskaya region).

Material: Wood, tempera

Dimensions:  height 73,5 cm, width 55,2 cm

Demetrius of Thessaloniki sitting on horseback slays the pagan tsar Kalojan sitting on the white horse with a spear.

Was deposited in 1931.

Restoration: the All-Russian Art Scientific and Restoration Center named after I.E. Grabar, restorer – Prigorodova O.A.
