Our Lady (Hodegetria) of Smolensk
Iconography: Our Lady of Smolensk
Date: XVI century. Beginning of the 16th century
Origin: From the church of Intercession of Our Lady (c. 1492) in the village Pokrovskoye in Dolgiye Slobody, Cherepovetsky district (now – Sheksninsky district of the Vologodskaya region).
Material: Wood, tempera
Dimensions: height 87 cm, width 66 cm
Waist-length depiction of Our Lady with the Divine Child. The Divine Child is sitting on the left hand of Holy Lady, the right hand of the Savior is in the gesture of blessing, His right hand is holding a scroll.
Was deposited in the museum in 1930.
Restoration: the All-Russian Art Scientific and Restoration Center named after I.E. Grabar, 1981, restorer – Prigorodova O.A.
