Iconography: Nativity of the Holy Virgin
Date: XIX century. First third of the 19th century
Origin: From the church commemorating the Saint Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Ulom, Cherepovetskiy district, Novgorodskaya region (now – Cherepovetskiy district, Vologodskaya region).
Material: Wood, tempera
Dimensions: height 107 cm, width 77 cm
The composition unfolds against the architectural staffage. Under the arch with the ionic columns is depicted Anne with the maids. Below is the scene of Washing Mary. In the upper corners of the icon are the figures of Joachim and Anne listening to the annunciation of the angels about the birth of the child. In the centre is half-figure of the Lord of Sabaoth in the clouds. In the lower left corner is shown the scene of meeting of Joachim and Anne at the Golden gate, in the lower right corner is shown St. Joachim.
Was deposited in 1938.
