Holy Week

Iconography:  Holy Week

Date: XIX century. The second half of the 19th century.

Material: Wood, canvas, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 31,5 cm, width 26,6 cm

In the center of the icon is the figure of Christ enthroned with an open Gospel in his hands, on other side of Him stand the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, the Mother of God and John the Baptist. Above are the figures of the apostles Peter and Paul, John the Baptist and Nicholas the Wonderworker. Kneeling at the Savior’s feet are the praying Sts. George, Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, Zosima and Savvaty of Solovki.

Received from the Vuchetich All-Union Industrial Art Combine in 1990 (formerly owned by V.A.Sazonov).
