The two-tier icon portraying God the Father seated on the Heavenly throne as the Ancient of Days, with an eight-pointed halo above the head. On his lap sits Christ Emmanuel, inside a circle is a pigeon symbolizing the Holy Spirit. This iconography belongs to the iconographic type of “Paternity”.
In the lower part of the icon is an image of the Mother of God Oranta (Sign).
The icon of the Mother of God from the Deesis row portraying John the Baptist represents the first couple standing before Christ Pantocrator Enthroned.
