Iconography:  Ascension of Our Lord

Date: XV century. 1408

Origin: From the festival row of the iconostasis in the Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir. In the years of 1768 and 1775 the dilapidated 1408 iconostasis, which didn’t suit artistic tastes of the Catherine II epoch was taken out of the church and sold to the village of Vasilyevskoe near Shuja (now the Ivanovskaya oblast).

Dimensions:  height 128 cm, width 92 cm

The scene of the Ascension of Our Lord. In the lower part of the icon are the twelve apostles and the Mother of God with angels. Above, in the center, against a mandorla supported by the angels, is the figure of Jesus Christ.
