Entombment

A scene of Jesus Christ’s entombment is depicted against a rocky background. The coffin with Jesus Christ is surrounded by the Holy Virgin, John the Baptist, Christ’s secret disciples St. Joseph of Arimathea and St. Nicodemus, and the myrrh-bearers.

Entombment

Our Lady is depicted shoulder-length. She raises Her arms in a gesture of praying and bends over the body of Jesus Christ lying in the coffin.

Four-part icon: the Entrance into Jerusalem, the Crucifixion, the Descent from the Cross, the Laying in the Tomb

In the left upper corner is the scene of the Entrance of Our Lord into Jerusalem. To the right is the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In the upper part of the icon are the scenes of the Deposition from the Cross and the Laying in the Tomb.

Entombment

The icon depicts St. John the Baptist, St. Joseph of Arimathea, St. Nicodemus and saint women inclined over the body of Christ. On either side of the Cross, with the instruments of Passion behind it, are the figures of angels.
